I trained with HPH in York having graduated with a joint degree in Maths and Music from the University of York in 1983. I managed the Harrogate office of the firm from 1996 and became a Partner in 1999. I’ve been the firm's Managing Partner since 2012.
As well as being a qualified Chartered Accountant, I am the person responsible for Technology within the firm and represent HPH on the Accelerate Technology Forum (currently as chairman), helping to determine national policies throughout the Association. I am also responsible for Practice Assurance within the firm.
My client portfolio includes many commercial entities, together with a range of charities and other not for profit organisations. I have a particular interest in charities through family involvement and advise informally in a number of areas. I hold the Institute of Chartered Accountants' premier qualification in the not-for-profit sector, the Diploma in Charity Accounting.
In addition to being qualified as a Business Finance Professional, I am also authorised to undertake non-contentious Probate work through our sister company, HPH Probate Services Limited.
My wider interests outside the working environment include activities at, and the running of, my local church where I am a keen musician and youth worker. I am a Charity Trustee and spent many years as a School Governor.
